8-Day Silent Retreat for Foreigners
A 1300 year old temple, Mihwangsa, is surrounded by the beautiful Dharma Mountain and the Yellow Sea. Mihwangsa offers an 8-day traditional Korean sitting meditation (Gan Hwa Seon) program. In July, the program is conducted by Subul Sunim in English for foreigners. Subul Sunim has already managed the program more than 100 times in Seoul and Busan.
■ Time: July 17, 2010 (Sat)-July 24, 2010 (Sat)
Retreatants can arrive one day in advance and stay one more day.
■ Subject: Korean, foreigners and sunim (All English Speaking)
■ Ages: Above 19
■ Number of Retreatants: 50
■ Program: Silent sitting meditation, daily evening fast, Q&A session about practice, and dharma talk.
All will be translated to English.
Important details about the program
1) This is a silent retreat; unless it is an emergency, we ask all retreatants to focus their energy on discovering their inner Buddha and not to disturb others. The instructors will go over the temple rules and etiquettes on the first day.
2) Daily practice of silent sitting meditation will help in:
-purifying one’s body and mind
-strengthening one’s mind concentration
-getting in tune with and sharpening one’s intuition
3) Dharma Talk will be conducted everyday in the lecture hall by Subul sunim.

■ Fee: There are no mandatory fees. This program is run by donations. We welcome donations of any domination.
